In this image, the Steamship Norumbega is owned by the "Bay State S. S. Co.", travels on the "Cape Cod Canal Route", and apparently is known as the "Romance Line". She is loaded with her passengers, all in suits, ties, hats, jackets, and coats, except, of course most of the kids are bareheaded. I haven't found any info about this ship, other than when she was owned by another company, the Maine Central Railroad Company. From the Vintage Maine Images website: The steamship Norumbega was owned by the Maine Central Railroad Company. It ferried people to and from towns on Mt. Desert Island and along the Maine Coast. Title: Steamship Norumbega Creation Date: circa 1905 Town: Bar Harbor County: Hancock State: ME From the Friends Of Island History website: In a photograph of the port side, the Steamboat Norumbega is aground at Clark's Point leaning to starboard. Two life boats are in davits on port side, top of steamer. A small launch is tied to the back of the steamer. Men on shore examine the hull. Two men in a small boat are near the hull. ...and another: Steamboat Norumbega aground at Clark's Point. Group of men standing on the shore. One is seated on a rock. Steamer leans to starboard. Ladder coming out of hold. Two life boats in davits on top of ship. ...and finally, but with no image *sorry*: From the Shipbuilding History website: - O.N.
